Repeal would have a positive impact on the American economy
  • A repeal of death taxes should lead to considerable revenue growth. Firms expect that a repeal of death taxes would induce them to invest in their businesses in ways that would enable revenue to grow five percent faster. ("Family Business: The effect of Estate Taxes." Gallop Poll. September 1995)
  • A 1996 study by the Heritage Foundation found that a repeal of the death and gift tax would cause dramatically positive effects in the American economy over the next nine years:
    1. The nation's economy would average as much as $11 million per year in extra output.
    2. An average of 145,000 additional jobs would be created.
    3. Personal income would rise by an average of $8 billion per year above current projection.
    4. The deficit would actually decline due to the growth generated by abolishing the death tax.
